Pastoral Report March 2018

From April 2017 our family were honoured not only to become part of Open Baptist Church, but also to serve and minister to God’s people. For us it has been a blessed journey and we can see how God is working in and through us and we can see lives being changed.

Many new people visited our Church and also new members were added to the list. According to last year’s report we were 46 members and since then 6 members has been removed and 13 members has been added to the membership list. We currently have 53 members.

Vision

The vision of the Church has been adapted and formulated as follows:

Our vision is UPWARDSWe believe that God does not share His glory with another and that He created us for His glory. (Isaiah 43:7; Romans 15:6; 1 Corinthians 6:20).

Our vision is INWARDS – We believe that we are reconciled to God through Christ’s sacrifice, that we live in Him and are changed by the power and transforming work of the Holy Spirit into the His image. (Ephesians 4:13; Romans 12:2)

Our vision is OUTWARDSWe believe that God has called us to make disciples and teach them to do the same. We desire to serve others that the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of Father and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit will be made visible in the Church and in the community where He has placed us. (Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 4:10)

2017

The past year was packed with events and opportunities to serve and minister. The Holiday club in July was a great success, the Ladies’ tea, the Men’s breakfast, the Marriage seminar, the Okasi outreach last year and also now two weeks ago, the Sunday School play, the Summer camp and also the Kick camp in March this year.

We started with Membership classes in May last year and we also kicked off in February this year with our Discipleship process. We also launched our website – www.openbaptistchurch.co.za.

The Bible studies are really doing well, especially with our studies of the books of Philippians and Galatians, and we are now currently busy with Psalm 119. We also started last year a new Bible study group on the west side of the dam that is led by myself.

The worship ministry is doing well, feedback from members are positive and they enjoy the time of worship.

I cannot thank the leadership and everyone in this church enough for their support and encouragement and also their time and effort that they have invested into this Church. Your labour of love for the work of God here makes this ministry possible.
